Easier to share interesting stories

We've just deployed a new feature which makes it easier for curators to share interesting stories about their knowledge domains.

All curators now have a "Share Stories" link in the left-side menu. Just click it and determine if any of the news stories could be interesting to your domain members.

Hope you like it! And don't hesitate to let us know if you find any bugs, or have suggestions for improvements.

The Curator role

Dear Curators!

(This post is a bit on the long side, but I hope that you will have a few minutes to read through it. Your feedback is invaluable.)

Thank you for joining this early beta of the Planeto Knowledge Network! We have currently invited less than 40 testers, of which around 20 are curators for one or more domains. So you are part of a very select group. :)

Some of you have asked to get more information about the Knowledge Network and the Curator role, so I thought I'd elaborate briefly on this.

As a curator you have two important tasks:

1. Approve (and initially create) questions related to your domain. So that other users can become certified as experts on your domain.

2. Share your knowledge and expertise. By sharing links and stories your domain will attract people that share your interests, in turn giving you something back. Thus, as a curator we hope that you inherently feel good about sharing your expertise with others.

In a social network (such as Facebook) you find out what your friends are saying about the things THEY like. In a knowledge network you find out what experts are saying about what YOU like.

To be clear, we're not trying to replace your social network; getting information from your friends is often both fun and relevant. Rather, our vision is to provide you with interesting information from trustworthy sources other than your friends. Facebook's News Feed is very powerful, and we believe that the Knowledge Feed can become equally valuable in providing information that is interesting to you.

Also, we believe in quality over quantity. The knowledge feed is about providing hand-picked stories by experts on your interests. We believe that it's better to post a few interesting stories per day, rather than links to everything about your domain. As a curator and expert your are the perfect person to share the true gems about your domain.

Now, since our network is (intentionally) still very small, we don't have many posts, which in turn does not encourage a lot of activity. The only way to enjoy the benefits of the Planeto platform is if we all pitch in and start sharing interesting links and other thoughts.

You all have busy lives, but we hope that you have the time to spend a few minutes per day on Planeto. If we get this right, Planeto will become a wonderful information sharing and community platform for all of us. :)

Thus, to conclude, I have one important question for you all:

* What can we do to encourage you to share at least one post per day in your domain?

Please don't hesitate to write your thoughts in the comments section of this post. Thank you!
